Family Night at the Fights

Occasionally the Akron Society of Artists issues a "Challenge" to it's members ... this Challenge was to "paint [or draw] yourself into a famous work of art." At the time, I chose to paint myself as one of the people trying to prevent Dempsey from hitting the floor as he flew through the ropes in Bellows' "Dempsey-Firpo Fight". Over-achiever that I am, I included my husband and sports-reporter son, and called it "Family Night at the Fights." That's David with his notebook on bottom right, me in profile with hand up next to him, and Dewey on far bottom left.
